The Mortal Instruments

The Mortal instruments is a six book series written by Cassandra Clare.  These amazing books are about the Shadowhunters of the New York Institute.  Shadowhunters are a race of human and angel hybrids which protect the mundane/human world from demons, while also keeping downworlders in line.  Downworlders are vampires, werewolves, the fae, and warlocks.

angel-1841177_640The series, The Mortal Instruments,  consists of the following six books, City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass, City of Fallen Angels, City of Lost Souls, and City of Heavenly Fire, in that order. These follow the story of a sixteen year old girl, Clary Fray, living in New York and her discovery of the shadow world.  After being hidden from it, Clary Fray is thrust into this world and discovers that she is a shadowhunter.  Anywhere she goes so does her best friend, Simon Lewis, who is also thrown into this world but as a mundane.   They meet the golden boy, Jace Wayland, and his adoptive family, the Lightwoods, who are also shadowhunters in the New York Institute.  Together Jace, Clary, Simon, Isabelle and Alexander Lightwood need to find the mortal cup and stop Valentine from accomplishing his evil goal.  Secrets and lies are revealed that just might break even the best of the shadowhunters.

Why Do I Wear My Sweatshirts backwards?

by Brooke Foreman

As many have noticed I recently started wearing my sweatshirts backwards. I have chosen to do this for a symbolic reason. My soccer coach always says to my team and me, “Never look back.” Because of this we no longer look back on recent failures and instead look towards the new ways we wish to soon succeed. However, another quote “If we never stop to look back, then we keep moving forward despite what we can learn from our past” is also a lesson that continues to remain in my head. Wearing my sweatshirt backwards stands for a way to “look back” while moving forward.

How to know if you have been abducted by aliens?

science-fiction-1819026_640Have you ever. . .

  • Had the feeling you were being watched?
  • Lost or misplaced common household items, such as TV remote controls, pens, or single socks?
  • Seen unusual lights in the sky?
  • Discovered mysterious scars on your body that you could not explain?
  • Experiences a “lost” period of time (e.g., while driving your car) in which you didn’t know where you were or what you had just done over the preceding minutes?
  • Felt the sensation of flying while asleep?
  • Awoken with a sudden jolt from deep sleep?
  • Woken up with a sense of a strange person or presence in the room?
  • Experiences tenderness or soreness in any part of your body without knowing why?
  • Felt anxious or agitated for no apparent reason?
  • Had feelings of disbelief about aliens of UFOs?

If you have answered “yes” to three or more of these questions then you have probably been abducted by aliens at some point in your life but if you are reading this now you probably escaped.  Not to worry many others have been abducted as well you are not the only one.  If you answered “yes” to only one or two then protect yourself and your loved ones for it is only a matter of time before they come.

Could There Be Life Somewhere Else in Space?

planet-581239_640On February 23, 2017, NASA discovered seven new earth-sized planets orbiting the same star 235 trillion miles away.  Three of these planets lie in the middle of what scientists call the habitable zone.  All seven planets could have liquid water but only three are possibly habitable.  Unlike our solar system these planets happen to be very close together.  If you were to visit one of these planets, you would be able to see its neighboring planets pass by on their orbital journey.  Hopefully in the future scientists will find out more about these planets and possibly find extraterrestrial life.
